HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

So, today is my dad's birthday! {HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD!!!!!} And since I'm not able to be there to celebrate it with the fam, I thought I'd do a little "dedication" on here!

(Here he is with Drake!)

(and golfing - one of his favorite hobbies!)

(and enjoying Razorback football, of course!)

Thanks for everything, Dad! You're the best!

Why HELLLLO fall

The cold weather caught us by surprise this morning, so "hello fall!"

Walking in the cold wind at 44 degrees isn't fun whenever you're just wearing a light jacket...

It's cute though, right?! I got it to add some "tiger gold" to my wardrobe!
Eric keeps telling me I need to start thinking of function more than fashion... *sigh*

Happy fall!!!

Weekend Update

I think we’re beginning to live for the weekends…

Happy Monday! I think each Monday is getting un-happier for us as we keep drudging in school and work. :) It sure is hard to let go of the weekends on Sunday nights!

Our weekend was spent watching The Office, grocery shopping, painting and staining, going to the movies, and getting in a minor wreck. Yes, wreck. Eric wasn’t too happy…

As we were on our way to church yesterday, we got backed into while trying to park. Thankfully, it just knocked off Eric’s side mirror and caused a small dint and a few scratches, and damage to the tail light on the other car. So, hello insurance company and repairs… :( It happens though, right? I think we’ll be staying away from that crazy and small parking lot from now on…

Now that the not-so-great news is out of the way, we’ve been watching The Office season 5 for the past 2 weeks now! Gotta love that show! I went out to get the mail on Saturday, and I ran back upstairs with “ooohing” and “awwwing” and causing Eric to roll his eyes because Jim and Pam were on the cover and there was a big article on the show. Their wedding will be on the October 8 episode! I’m so excited! {I know Eric is secretly excited, too!}

Eric got the movie pick for the weekend, so we went to go see “Surrogates” with Bruce Willis. It was definitely, well, interesting. I’m usually not a big fan of sci-fi, but I liked it. Eric has this whole theory about how it’s based on a conspiracy and how everyone is always attached to their computers and how they’re surrogates, etc etc. I guess I’d better stop with this blog entry then. ;)

I’ve been attempting to paint a small stand/cabinet for about 2 weeks now. It’s been the most annoying thing – I started painting it with latex interior paint, then it started peeling, and 10 coats later, it still isn’t great. I took it outside to the alley/drive behind our building yesterday and just started spray painting it. Unfortunately, even that didn’t work. Maybe someday it’ll decide to stick.

I <3 Antique-ing!

So, Eric was a fantastic sport this weekend and let me go to the flea market TWICE. I was soo excited.
Saturday, during our multitude of errands, we stopped by and found a coat rack - something we've been looking for the past few weeks and we actually found one under $30! Check it out:

I'm sure we'll use it a lot once the "northern" winter hits here! :)

And of course, I couldn't help but notice the gold antique chair in one of the booths. After giving the puppy-dog face to Eric all Saturday night (ok, maybe I'm exaggerating there), we went back Sunday to pick it up! It goes great in our bedroom, just needs a new layer of stain!...

And here is Eric testing it out...

In other news, I've been working on my art business and website while Eric has been studying away! Stop by my new website at: http://carolineleemisdesign.com/FlairArtwork.html

Eric has several tests/quizzes this week so we're in for a busy week! Cross your fingers that he does well! :)

I'm slacking...

I apologize about the lack of blog entries lately! I'm beginning to slack off :)

Well, since the last time I wrote, Eric's been busy with grad school and I've been spending my evenings trying to revive my art business (check my art blog out at: www.flairartwork.blogspot.com!). We both went our separate ways this past weekend to see family, which was nice (minus the bad Labor Day traffic of course!). It looks like we'll be spending the next several weekends here in CoMo which will be good - I have a lot I want to get done, for sure! :)

With mixed emotions, I traded in Arkansas red for Mizzou gold last Friday for Colors Day. At least Arkansas and Missouri aren't in the same conference, but still...it's not the same. And, not only that, I had to give up my Arkansas drivers license and plate for Missouri! Hopefully I can call Arkansas my home again soon!

{Go Mizzou?}

In other news, we found an awesome antique table a few weeks ago after Eric drove me out to one of the antique stores east of town. He wasn't too happy whenever we found out it wouldn't exactly fit in his car, but thankfully with the help of a bungee cord, we were able to get the thing on the interstate and back home! Here's the final, and newly painted (originally cream) product:

{Thanks Mom for the fall basket! :)}

Next on the list: antique coat rack! Shopping this weekend, anyone?!

{Happy new school year! :)}
