September in Bulletpoints

  • Lily dog has gotten spoiled big time... to the point where we let her up on the couch with us. She's also been super rotten when we try and trim her nails...after multiple attempts and a trip to PetSmart, we've had to resort to taking her to the vet to get her sedated to trim those super sharp things.

  •  Daddy-O celebrated his 55th birthday the other day and we had a great time with him and Mom in Columbia last weekend. His gift from us was a set of old Busch Stadium seats that I lucked out on at an antique store...something we wanted to get him when the stadium originally closed but they were out of.

  •  I finally got around to finishing our dresser (after painting it gray, navy, and back and forth for months). The rest of our bedroom still has a lot of work to be done, but it's getting there.

  •  Our new sunroom went under construction this week and should be done Monday or Tuesday! Lily has been put in her crate all week so I'm sure she'll be glad to have her domain (and a nice covered area) back. Hopefully she doesn't decide to chew on furniture and walls when she gets bored during the day!

So there's a quick recap of the whirlwind month of September...we just can't keep up with work, house, and blogging!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy birthday to the coolest dad I know! ;)

Just kidding! (We like to make fun of him for his new dark-tinted, originally with spinners Tahoe)

Here's a better photo. ;)

Weekend Wrap-Up

Sunday was Anna-Marie (below) and my cousin Shannon's birthday! Happy (belated) birthday you two!

All four of Eric and I's grandfathers have served in the military in some form, so happy Memorial Day as well!

(My granddad, Ronnie - Air Force)

(My Paw-paw, Bob - Navy)

And of course we can't forget Grandpa Art (Army - correct me if I'm wrong) and Grandpa Jack (Navy)- I just didn't have pictures for you two on my computer! We love you!

Our weekend was spent getting our hands dirty in gardening! I have to admit, I've never really planted anything so it'll be interesting to see how this turns out! After a trip to Lowe's, we picked up a strawberry plant, some pots, and some packs of carrots, lettuce, broccoli, and green beans. I put the 4 veggies in the 2nd container and then moved the thing and now I don't know where each of the sets of seeds are. :) Hopefully they'll sprout soon so I can put some little labels in there!

The weather was actually really nice all weekend, too. So nice that we went to the park both Saturday and Monday. I rocked 3 miles in my Reebok EasyTones yesterday (yes, I got them before I reached my 1 mile running goal ;), and am going to attempt to get back on the Couch to 5K program this week. Kalyn is completely demolishing that program! :) Maybe I can become as cool as her!

And on another note, since I forgot to blog about this, I've been sprucing up some areas in the apartment lately. Task #1 was freshen up the bedding with a spring-y comforter! Surprisingly Target had one that already matched all our other decor!

And lastly, Eric is "officially official" at the hospital. I think he's excited that people the meets with will actually know he's an employee now, not just some random guy asking for info. :)

Happy Belated!

Since I haven't been blogging much lately, I wanted to take a quick moment to wish a happy belated birthday to my Aunt Cathy and Eric's mom, Charise!

We just got in last night from Tennessee and Kent's wedding. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera today so I'll try to post pictures tomorrow! And for those of you wondering, no news on the job yet - it's going slowww! More updates soon.

Catch-Up on Life

Hi! We're still here! :) It's been a crazy week and it's only going to get crazier as the month goes on. Two weekends ago we went back to Fayetteville for a short trip. Eric got to see all 3 of his college roommates - quite an event since three of the four are not living in Fayetteville right now.

We also got to visit with my great-grandmother again, who turns 93 (Mom, correct me if I'm wrong!) next week! Isn't that just amazing?! Here she is at the wedding with mom and I:

And last weekend for Easter we went to Memphis! I took off on Friday so it was nice to have a slightly longer weekend. We did a lot of shopping and wedding planning for Kent and Dreama (almost a month away! We can't wait to see the whole Leemis family and Michiganders again!). I thought this picture was pretty hilarious of everyone in line at the fabric counter at JoAnn's:

In other news, Eric has an internship!! He found out yesterday and it's here within the hospital system at the quality center. Sounds like it's something he's going to enjoy, and we were super glad it's in Columbia - no extra living or gas costs! :) He's got several big projects due the next few weeks until the end of the semester, so he's definitely staying busy!

I'm taking the LEED exam next weekend so I've been studying 5+ hours a day myself. I'm hoping to get that professional accreditation to keep on top of things in the design field. Of course, when I scheduled it, I was looking at a pretty slow month and thought I would have plenty of time to study, but since then 2 art events came up, an inquiry about designing a website, an Etsy order and a couple other side design projects! Talk about a lot to do! (PS- my newest blog post got published yesterday here)

Gotta love studying...here's my huge box and a half worth of notecards! And I thought I was done with school... :)

And it's finally looking like spring here! (Below is outside of Memorial Union on campus)

Here's Eric in front of the columns - I find it funny that he's wearing an Arkansas shirt in front of the Missouri sign! :)

And with spring comes the swarms of wasps. In our apartment, too. No joke - we've found 3 (1 dead, 2 alive) in our apartment in the last week, plus several on our porch. I guess each season brings it's own different critters to our place! (Ladybugs, wasps, a mouse... what's next?! And we don't live in a bad apartment either!)

More to come next week for sure! Along with photos after another trip to HomeGoods - this time the big store near STL! ;)

Random Tuesday

I feel like I haven't blogged on here in forever!

Eric's been slaving away with school and I'm hoping that I'm not getting sick with this sore throat I've had for 2 days. It was definitely a "blah Monday" yesterday. The weekend went by quick as usual...I got some painting done and spent several hours ripping up the last of the antique chair. No photos yet because it's still not done, but hopefully those will be up soon!

On the more personal side of things, I had a doctor's appointment last Friday and now I have an endoscopy of my upper stomach scheduled for the end of the month for the stomach pains I get about 4-5 times a month. I've always had a sensitive stomach and have been a picky eater because of it, so it probably was about time I went to see a doctor about it. If I'm ever over at your house though and don't eat all your food, don't take it personally! ;) I wasn't expecting to have to go to the lab to get my blood drawn on Friday, so it's a good thing I was able keep from passing out so I could drive home. So, needless to say, I HATE giving blood samples. If this photo from when I got blood drawn for mono last year doesn't justify that, then I don't know what does.
(If you have a weak stomach, don't look below!)

I had that monster bruise for weeks - took the nurse 3 or 4 times to get the right vein. (*chills*)

We've had some winter weather here the past few days. Of course not as much as the weathermen predicted though (they said 5 inches, we got about 1-1.5). Columbia public schools have been out since Friday at noon though...I'm so jealous. I told Eric this morning that my next career is going to be a school teacher so I can get summers and snow days off. Maybe I should look into art education... ;)

In other news, I'm so excited to be going home in a few weeks to celebrate the birthdays of these lovely ladies!!

Kim is turning 18 (I think I'm going to go cry now she's getting so old!...Didn't she just start high school 2 days ago?), and Mom's birthday is on the same day, too!

And, as if if that isn't enough, Aunt Amy is turning 90 on the same day, too! :)

We've got Aunt Carolyn coming in from California and Walt, Lorraine, and Nathaniel from Prague...I can't wait!

Wedding Wednesday coming tomorrow! {Ashley - I'm going to do that post you tagged me in tomorrow!}

P.S. - and CONGRATS to Kalyn!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

So, today is my dad's birthday! {HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD!!!!!} And since I'm not able to be there to celebrate it with the fam, I thought I'd do a little "dedication" on here!

(Here he is with Drake!)

(and golfing - one of his favorite hobbies!)

(and enjoying Razorback football, of course!)

Thanks for everything, Dad! You're the best!
